I thought that I would say something on this subject as it bothers me in many ways, Michael Vick recently wrote a 5 page letter to his judge pleading for mercy. Now I know I am going to piss some people off here, but if my thoughts were weighed deeply I believe that some of those people would indeed be turned as I was after reading the letter.
In the letter Vick reminds us of his past, where as a youngster living in somewhat poor conditions he was exposed to dog fighting on a regular basis, with nothing done about it. No excuse........ but as the letter goes on he names everything from dogs and fish, and his love for those animals, even calling himself "shy". Is it possible that a person that takes part in.....even perhaps FUNDS dog fighting may be actually be a soft hearted lover? Vick then begs for what sounds like mercy asking for some leiniency , saying he is better suited helping kids , and the poor as he has for years, going on he states he has learned his lesson and wants to do even more helping, including animal shelters. Promising the world just to be free.... So I stop here and say my peace.......
I love animals....... and I was very hurt to hear and then see proof of what he had done. It saddened me to see a human could hurt an animal, or force two or more animals to fight to death. But what good is he in prison at this point? With a proven track record of being a otherwise good citizen and seeing all the help he has done for children and the poor... why not use that to our advantage? Isnt that what probation is for? If he is indeed sorry for what he did , and stays out of trouble, and helps the world showing people CAN change, Then he remains a free man, we have a smidgen of a better world, animals get treated better, kids learn lessons, and right from wrong at an early age, and some homeless people get a glimmer of hope in this sometimes tarnished world we live in.
So thats my point and I am sticking to it........let him go lets see if he is truly sorry...he is allready "broke"
